Hydroponics is a method of growing plants without soil, either growing them in a solution of water and nutrients, or in an inert material such as gravel. This method has been used commercially to grow fruit and vegetables, although almost any plant can be grown in this way.
It is probably best known as a method of growing substances that are not entirely legal, however the method itself is widely recognised as a legitimate growing process.
