Contest update

I've been away for a few days and now have to sit down and work out who are the winners in my blog contest.
I could not mention my specific criteria for choosing the main prize winner as it was dependent on DIGG's received on the pages that got links from blog entries. If I had come out and said that from the start, it would have been against DIGG terms or service, and could have been 'gamed'.
I am happy to say that I have identified the winning post, I have sent them an email, and will reveal all shortly. It remains for the 'random' prize to be awarded, and I will merely add all the back-links connected to the contest onto a list and randomly pick one.

Valuable prizes

Cash prizes are not the only valuables offered in blogging contests, increasingly contests are launched with a prize of free advertising on the contest hosting blog and the contest over at The Pink C has prizes of this nature, in total valued at nearly $300 altogether.
You can win 3 separate prizes including 125x125 banners on ThePinkC, sidebar links and reviews by Ellie AKA Geek Girl. Ordinarily, these prizes might not excite, but ThePinkC is no ordinary blog and is guaranteed to drive some considerable traffic your way... Ellie has some top-notch posts most of which are extremely useful, but all of which are highly entertaining, even the paid posts! This simple contest is perfect if you are looking to promote a relatively new blog or hoping to breathe some new life into an existing one.
The contest has been titled: Win Big at thepinkc and definitely qualifies as an easy-to-enter contest.. Why not start designing a 125x125 banner right now in case you win.
How to enter:

All you have to do is write a 150-200 word review on your blog about ThePinkC. It has to be its own post; it cannot be combined with any others. The post you write has to link to the blog’s main page with the anchor text Geek Girl. You also must link to this contest using the anchor text WIN BIG at thepinkc! You can be negative or positive, or both - just write unique content about this blog before 10-10-07

The winning entry will be chosen randomly from the qualifying entries and even if you don't join in the competition, visit blog anyway to see one of the best blogs out there.

$50 contest for creative bloggers....

Cash contest again today over at Blogging with cents (thanks to browsing through Mr Prizes recently added contests). This contest however, is a contest with a difference. The prize will be awarded to those that have obtained entry to the contest by filling in the blanks in a short story. Cleverly, the story contains two links, and you must post the completed story on your own blog (including links). the prize will be awarded randomly, but you can earn extra entries by completing the story cleverly or wittily. I really like this idea for a contest and will endeavour to have a go myself...

Here are the rules in brief:

You can use 1 word or a phrase to fill in the blank. You can be as creative as you want, you decide what is said and how the story ends! If the story doesn’t make sense, that’s OK too;)

If your story makes the author of the blog laugh or impresses her sufficiently, then you will earn extra bonus entries

You have until 12:00am cst, September 30 to get your entries in. On October 1st, a winner will be drawn at random. The winner will have 1 week to get in touch to claim his/her winnings.

What you win: One random winner will win $50 via Paypal and, of course, some linky love on my big fat PR O of a blog:)

NOW FOR THE STORY—-

_______ about a month ago in _______. I was ______ when I realized my ______ could be seen. You have probably had that experience before. I felt ______ , and I knew that soon I would have to ______ . $100 contest at World of Angel

Cash on an impressive scale ($100), and a real easy contest to enter, what more could you want?

Here's what the author of WorldOfAngel has to say about it:

"The rules for this contest are simple. All you have to do is write a short paragraph (minimum 50 words) in one of your blog posts telling people about this competition and that they can win $100. Link to this post with an anchor text of your choosing. Then, Stumble http://worldofangel.com/ and subscribe to my RSS feed. That’s it. There’s no real legwork involved and you could do the whole thing in about five minutes."

Your pingback will be your entry ticket for this contest. This one is open until the 30th of September, so get your skates on to get an entry into this contest. Here's an idea if you win the $100, why not run a contest for $50 and spread a little of the cash around the rest of the blogosphere. As they say, what goes around, comes around....

Mr Prizes - contests website

MrPrizes.com - Your online guide through a fun and easy to use resource to win cash and prizes.
I got a comment from Mr Prizes to say that he'd featured my contest, so naturally I went over to have a look... This is a great website with stacks and stacks of competitions and good links. I haven't had time yet to really explore everything on the site, but rest-assured I'll be going back to see what is on offer. Other sites featuring blogging competitions tend to be in a blog-style, but this one is a more conventional website. He has a cool widget which you can place on your site or blog that will keep your readers up to date with the latest competitions.

(I was even able to customise the widget to fit in with my new red theme) All-in-all this looks to me like it will be a very successful site, and one which I for one will find very useful.

Romantic contest for $100

The Power of AttractionMay Leng of the 'Just Me' blog wants to give away $100 via Paypal for your romantic story, that's it, no links, no signing up to RSS feeds, DIGGing posts or any of the jumping through hoops that usually accompanies a contest on a blog.
Here's what she says about the contest:

"I'm giving away my USD100 via paypal if you have a paypal ID, alternatively I'm happy to transfer the money to fellow Malaysians thru Maybank2u . Hang on, there's a catch.

Keeping the spark in a relationship is hard work, everyone knows that. There are plenty of ways to keep the fire, the burning passion between two person. Romantic ideas to show your appreciation and adoration to your loved one. I have plenty of ways to romance my companion. Sadly not many are appreciative. Anyhow, I feel stupid, silly and stumped thinking back of all the silly things I've done to impress a guy. I'm sure the Power of Attraction strikes a deal with everyone. So, I like to hear your sweet, silly, funny story of what you did to impress, court the opposite gender. The story does not need to have a happy ending. Heck, most of the stupid stuff I did, the guy don't even know about it and the admiration just went into dormant mode. Just send me the gest of your courting action. No perfect English is required. I will rewrite the story for you (names will not be disclosed) and I will publish it for the readers to vote. So, again .. a little response please. This is to mark my anniversary, make it memorable for me.

Send your entry to doi_nk@yahoo.com. Submission begins today till 21st of September 2007."

Now according to my wife, I'm not that romantic, but I think we have very different ideas about what romance actually is. For some people it might be about the sacrifice, commitment and hard-work that it takes to keep a relationship viable, whereas others may see it as the mushy stuff that can be used to hide the fact that there may be no substance in a relationship (am I letting my prejudice show???!)
I am not sure whether I will be able to come up with anything suitable, but $100 is quite an attractive, if not romantic proposition...
The Just Me blog is extremely well-written with a lot of prose and interesting stories, May Leng's style is very readable and well worth a visit.

Paid to blog at SMORTY.COM

Visitors to this blog will probably be familiar with the concept of paid to blog services. There are a range of different companies that offer opportunities to bloggers for payment to post about a specific topic. The topics can range from a dating service to a travel website, a piece of software or anything that their advertisers request.
The best opportunities are those that fall within the general topics which are usually covered by your blog. For example, a blog that is aimed at new technology may choose topics such as new cell phones, PC games, or any other gadget that might have a blogging opportunity. Other blogs may post on a variety of topics without specific focus, opportunities are available for either type of blog.
One of the newer services available is a website called Smorty.com, it usually offers opportunities from about $6, bloggers are paid to write opinion posts with links back to advertisers sites.
If you are new to the paid to blog community or are looking for a new source of paid to blog opportunities, sign up with Smorty and maximise your earning-potential for blog advertising.

The Competition hots up!

It's time for some link love to those who have entered the Livewyre.NET contest.
There have been 13 individual entrants, who have posted on 18 different locations, so that's 18 entries going into the hat. Multiple entrants just get the one link-back in this post though...
There are still two weeks remaining for new entries to be added to the list, there is a one in eighteen chance of winning the random prize as it stands at the moment.
I really would like to give a clue about the rules, but I really can't (you may see why when I eventually reveal all..) - all I can say is I would be grateful if entrants would read the competition post carefully.... (There's a hint there).
Here are the hopeful entrants so far then:

Greg | Linky Love | Rachel | Ellie | The Prize Blog | Nitrogen | Garion | Vijay | Linkbait | Phil Van Treuren | Vincent Chow | IceDragon | Laura |

Win some well-placed advertising

I have been trawling the net for contests to bring to you, but have not found a cash prize this time. There are an awful lots of contests that are offering advertising or hosting or custom wordpress templates and stuff of that ilk. This one simply offers a 125x125 pixel banner in a prominent position on a popular blog (no visible page rank as yet but a very respectable amount of subscribers).

Entries into this contest over at 'Super Blogging' are got through various means, one of which will be a post like this linking to the homepage using make money blogging as the anchor text. Multiple entries on multiple blogs are allowed, so you could get yourself a stack of entries.

The Super Blogging blog is neat and well-written, concentrating on themes such as making money online and through blogging, search engine optimization, traffic generation, blogging tips, great finds on the internet, and more.... Thanks to Tay for this competition.

Last entries on 22nd September, Ads to start on 23rd or 24th (better make your banner now so you don't miss out on the advertising time). Leave a comment on the original contest post to confirm your chosen methods of entry, winning post to be chosen randomly...

Contest Blogger

I have been entering blog contests for a while to see if it is possible to raise some extra cash or get some cool stuff through winning prizes. To be honest, I have won nothing so far.... but it costs nothing to have a go....
My favourite source for locating cool contest has been without a doubt, Contest Blogger - This site is devoted to bringing you the best contests on the blogosphere. The author, Phil Van Treuren has come up with a phenomenal idea for a website, and has capitalised on this idea by building an excellent site to match. For visitors, there are all those contests to enter, for clients there is the opportunity to have your contest mentioned on an extremely popular site that will guarantee good exposure and traffic.
For a very reasonable charge, you can have your contest 'featured' guaranteeing even more exposure and traffic. Recently Phil ran a 'Ashwin Khanna Revenge' competition - if you don't know what all that was about, have a look at the original post here (the contest is now over - another one I didn't win!). In conclusion then, if you think you'd like to win something, and who wouldn't?? Take a trip to Contest Blogger and find yourself a competition or two...

Write a best-seller

John Kremer bestselling author, book marketing consultant and speaker has a new program to give authors the 'inside track' to get their books onto the New York Times bestseller list. It looks like he may have devised a system for 'gaming' the bestseller list in much the same way that some webmasters 'game' Google rankings.

His latest offering includes audio copies of his two previous tele-seminars, a step-by-step guide, a downloadable audio talk, a bookstore database, an inside guide on how some self-publishers have created best-sellers and a document giving valuable information on choosing a book distribution system.

I read recently that writing a bestseller was one of the most common dreams that people have, along with becoming a professional sports star or pop star. The system offered in this program gives you advice all the way round to help you achieve this dream as a self-publisher. Many of us believe that we have a book inside just waiting to get out (I know I do!), if you think you want to pursue this dream, this system has got to be worth considering.

Find out more at BookMarket.com and see if you too, can get into the New York Times Bestseller list.

Livewyre.NET competition $35

I'm ready to announce my first competition... Let's cut to the chase, the prize will be cash, and the rules will be easy - That should appeal to most of the bloggers that I know!
I am offering a main prize of $25 via paypal and an additional runners-up prize of $10. I have decided the criteria for awarding prizes, but to prevent counter-productive gaming of the rules, these will remain secret. I will say however that one prize will be awarded at random to anyone participating in the competition, the other will be earned more on merit.
I want to drive some traffic to my new website so this is what I am looking for:
  • A blog post of minimum 100 words creating buzz about Livewyre.NET with at least two links, one to the page you like best on my new website, and one to this competition.
  • If you use the words 'Livewyre.NET' I would prefer .NET in capitals...
  • leave a comment here (with the URL of your qualifying post) when your entry is done
  • I would be grateful if you would DIGG the page you link to on the site - if you want to link to more than one page, a third link would be acceptable.
  • There is no reason that both prizes cannot be won for the same entry since one of the prizes is entirely random.
  • Well-written imaginative posts stand a better chance of winning the merit prize (English language only please)
  • Competition closes on 30th September 2007, winners to be announced on 3rd October
Leave a comment if you have any questions

Win a Toyota Scion??

Now this is QUITE an ambitious competition and would break new boundaries for blogging competitions as far as I am aware....
Prija wants to raise money to get his sister a car, get a car to give out as a prize, fund a movie and create a buzz about the movie at BlogWorld Expo. He is aiming high but appears to have done his sums... he will be looking for 500 sponsors to pay $100 each, thus raising the required $50,000. What you will get in return is publicity via the movie, via a sticker on the car (with your URL) and links from the blog which to be fair, is guaranteed to be well-visited, such is the scale of the project. From what I read on the blog, the spare car is intended to be given away as part of a separate blogging contest (can't wait to see what that will entail). A PR professional has been hired to take care of creating more buzz around this project, and I'm sure many of us will be watching to see how all this turns out... Read all about the movie project here...

August 2007

Looking back on August, there is an obvious change in emphasis and direction that is showing through. I have reached the point where I am ready to overhaul Munny4Hunny and concentrate on some new goals. I would still like to regain my pagerank and continue the quest for paid posts through PPP, but if that doesn't happen, I will need a new focus.
I have some ideas for a blog facelift, and my new emphasis will be a continuation of my current theme which is blog competitions (preferably for cash).
As far as earnings go, I have made about $31 one way and another in August which is a slight improvement on the previous month. However, please don't think that this is the full story... since May 2007, I have made around $550 from my original website, and this is continuing to build. I have been able to use this small pool of cash to fund web-hosting for my newest information website which I hope will prove to be profitable in the future, and will serve as a platform for any new projects. My current challenge is to be able to close off unprofitable avenues and put more effort into the profitable ones - I've learned that it's not helpful to have any more than about three or four live projects running at any one time....so they may as well be the best that you can make them.
